Sept. 12: MOST HOLY NAME OF MARY.
REVELATIONS TO ST. BRIDGET.
The Most Holy Name of Mary (Mass and readings here) is so powerful that even the demons fear the Queen of heaven, Mother of God, our mother, such that upon hearing her great name pronounced, they fly from those who seek her help.
St. Bridget recounts how the Blessed Virgin Mary (meaning of the name “Mary” here) revealed to her
“that there is not on earth a sinner, however devoid he may be of the love of God, from whom the devil is not obliged immediately to fly, if he invokes her holy name with a determination to repent.”
On another occasion, the Blessed Virgin Mary said,
“that all the devils venerate and fear her name to such a degree, that on hearing it, they immediately loosen the claws with which they hold the soul captive.”
Let us thank God Almighty for giving us Mary as our Mother who never ceases to protect us. Let us frequently honour and invoke the Most Holy Name of Mary with filial love and confidence all through the days of our life.
