DO WE TELL JESUS THAT WE LOVE HIM?
As people who are in love want to be reassured that they are loved, and want to hear over and over again the same words, let us do the same to Jesus. Let us tell Jesus often:
“Lord, you know all things, you know that I love you (Jn 21:17).”
Help me love you more.
This short prayer is an act of love. Everytime we say it, we do not need to feel anything always. Rather, what is important is that we mean what we are saying.
Even an act of contrition, as St. Josemaria taught, is an act of love. Every time we realize that we commit an error, or worse, if we have offended Him, let us call on Him and tell Jesus:
Lord Jesus, I’m sorry. I’ll begin again. I love you…
Let us heed St. Josemaria’s advice:
“Don’t be afraid to call our Lord by his name — Jesus — and to tell him that you love him. St. Josemaria, The Way, n. 303.”
And let us say these words with all sincerity many times during the day,
with our heart, in thoughts, and in concrete deeds.
