CATHOLIC ANSWERS TO MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY.
Dear brethren in Christ, I am reposting with permission a very helpful video done by my brother to help you understand why we Catholics love Mother Mary and pray for her intercession. It includes the 4 most common questions levelled by our non-Catholic Christian brethren regarding this topic. TOPIC: What are the misconceptions about the Blessed Virgin Mary?
Many issues have been brought out against the Blessed Virgin Mary by a number of religions. Let us try to answer some of their misconceptions.
First, why do you say Mary is the Mother of God? She should not be held on a higher level than or at the same level as God.
Second, why are you worshipping Mary? Only God deserves to be worshipped.
Third, why do you need to go to Mary when you can go directly to Jesus and God? There is only one mediator and this is Jesus – 1 Timothy 2:5 – “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
Fourth, why do you pray the rosary – a repetitious prayer that is condemned by Christ in Matthew 6:7 – “When you pray, do not use a lot of meaningless words, as the pagans do, who think that their gods will hear them because their prayers are long?”
