MAY 13: OUR LADY OF FATIMA MESSAGE (6):
“IN THE END, MY IMMACULATE HEART WILL TRIUMPH.”
The 2nd “secret” concludes with the following words of Our Lady: “In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she shall be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world.”
What does Our Lady mean by the promise “my Immaculate Heart will Triumph?”
“The Heart open to God, purified by contemplation of God, is stronger than guns and weapons of every kind. The fiat of Mary, the word of her heart, has changed the history of the world, because it brought the Saviour into the world—because, thanks to her Yes, God could become man in our world and remains so for all time. The Evil One has power in this world, as we see and experience continually; he has power because our freedom continually lets itself be led away from God. But since God himself took a human heart and has thus steered human freedom towards what is good, the freedom to choose evil no longer has the last word. From that time forth, the word that prevails is this: “In the world you will have tribulation, but take heart; I have overcome the world (Jn 16:33),” wrote the then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger.
The message of Fatima, aside from being a urgent motherly call to conversion and penance, is also an invitation to trust in Our Lady’s promise. Her apparitions in Fatima had this purpose: “To save souls.” This has emerged as the key phrase of the first and second parts of the “secret”, whereas third part’s keyword is the threefold cry: “Penance, Penance, Penance!” The purpose of all the apparitions was to help people to grow more and more in faith, hope and love—everything else was intended to lead to this.
Let us thank Our Lady for her constant maternal love, concern and solicitude.
