HOMILY FOR EASTER SUNDAY

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Alleluia! Christ is risen!
Today, we gather with hearts full of gratitude and joy to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is the most important feast in Christianity much more than Christmas and that is why in the Responsorial Psalm we pray:
This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Easter is not just a day; Easter which celebrates the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ is the cornerstone/ foundation/basis of our faith:
- ✓ it is the fulfillment of Our Lord’s saving mission,
- ✓ the victory over death, sin and the devil,
- ✓ the triumph of life over death, hope over despair, and love over hatred.
The empty tomb is not merely a historical event; it is a living reality that calls us to transformation.
- ✓ The Resurrection of Jesus is the ultimate proclamation of hope. It tells us that no matter how dark the night, the dawn will come. No matter how heavy the cross is, the glory of the Resurrection awaits.
- ✓ Although evil and death will remain till the end of time, they no longer have dominion and the last word, for Our Risen Lord has conquered them.
- ✓ His Passion and Death, showed us the cruelty of sin; but the Risen Christ shows us that his love, mercy and forgiveness are far stronger and can overcome evil. God shows us that His Omnipotence can draw a lot of good from what is evil.
- ✓ This is the joy we celebrate today—a joy that is not fleeting but eternal, rooted in the victory of Christ.
But this joy is not meant to be kept to ourselves.
- ✓ The Resurrection is a call to mission.
- Just as Mary Magdalene ran to tell the disciples, and the apostles went forth to proclaim the Good News, we too are called to be witnesses of the Risen Christ. Our faith is not a private treasure but a gift to be shared. In a world often marked by division, despair, and indifference, we are called to be apostles of hope, bearers of the light of Christ.
- ✓ This mission begins in our own hearts and homes. It is in the small acts of love, forgiveness, and kindness that we reflect the Resurrection.
- It is in standing up for justice, caring for the marginalized, and protecting the dignity of every human being that we live out our apostolic calling. The Resurrection empowers us to be agents of transformation, to bring the hope of Christ to a world in need.
As we celebrate this Easter, let us renew our commitment to this mission. Let us be a people of joy, hope, and love. Let us proclaim with our lives that Christ is risen, and because He lives, we too shall live.
Let us ask the help of Mother Mary: Tradition and the saints’ writings express that Our Lord first appeared to her. Through Our Lady’s intercessions, may the joy of the Risen Lord transform us, fill our hearts and homes. May His Resurrection guide our steps, and may His love inspire our mission.
Alleluia! Christ is risen indeed!
