joy of returning to God

THE JOY OF RETURNING TO GOD.

THE JOY OF TURNING AWAY FROM WICKEDNESS AND RETURNING TO GOD. God patiently waits for us to return to Him, to take heed of His loving call for our conversion, abandoning our sinful and miserable life in order to discover the joy of God’s presence and love in our soul through the sacrament of Confession.

God promises that ” “If the wicked man turns away from all the sins he committed, if he keeps all my statutes and does what is right and just, he shall surely live, he shall not die (Ez 18: 21).”

Each one is responsible and accountable before God. That is why once more, in this season of Lent, we are invited towards the path of conversion, to change our life for the better, mend our ways and be united with God. Let us not forget, however, that the efficacy of a true contrition is the personal conversion of our heart to God.

Authentic interior conversion must be accompanied by exterior works of prayer, sacrifices, and works of mercy. It is a matter of coherence. But above all, it is a matter of love. The change of heart which God wants from each one of us should be palpable and manifested in piety, charity, humility, patience, generosity…in our dealings with God and our neighbors.

Dear friends, God wants us to turn away from sin because He wants us to be really happy. Let us heed Our Lord’s call for daily conversion especially during this Lenten season by saying no temptation and sin and going to the Sacrament of Confession. Let us also pray daily for the conversion of other people and invite our friends to approach the Sacrament of Mercy. In this way, we will make God happy and many people experience the joy of returning to God.
