PRAY FOR THE FRUITS OF POPE FRANCIS’
VISIT TO ARMENIA (JUNE 24-26, 2016)
On his 14th trip outside Italy, Pope Francis will be visiting Armenia to push its reconciliation with Turkey and Azerbaijan.
He will visit as well Khor Virap, a very important place for Armenians since it is where St. Gregory was imprisoned in a well for 13 years but miraculously escaped and later baptized King Tiridates, making it possible for Armenia to become the 1st Christian nation in 301 A.D adopting Christianity as its official religion.
Armenia’s history is marked with two big wounds: the genocide of 1915 and communism.
Christianity in Armenia is composed of Catholics, who are in minority, and the larger Apostolic Armenian Church which did not acknowledge the Council of Chalcedon in 451 AD.
Patriarch Karekin II will receive and accompany Pope Francis during his trip to the country.
Let us pray for the fruits of Pope Francis’ journey to Armenia.
Have a great day ahead, friends! Fr. Rolly A., priest of Opus Dei.
