HAPPY BIRTHDAY, POPE EMERITUS BENEDICT XVI!
On April 16, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI will turn 93 years old.
We express our filial affection and gratitude for your invaluable, brilliant, humble, selfless service and self-giving to Our Lord Jesus Christ and His Church, in spite of the advanced age you were called to be Peter’s successor. You are a great example of humility for all of us, for whereas the world clings to power no matter what, you have taught us to put God and His Church over and above our personal interest. You have guided us through your Pontifical years with sound and profound doctrine through your writings and preaching which have undoubtedly enriched our souls. And you were valiant to expose what was needed to be known by the world so that the Bride of Christ be sifted and be purified, in spite of the consequences which might arise.
Thank you for these years you’re dedicating to a humble and hidden silence, praying for the entire Church! We have two grandfathers in Rome praying for us: you and Pope Francis! We are praying for you both daily in the Holy Mass. May God keep you and protect you, through the intercession of Our Lady, Mother of the Church.
Dear brethren in Christ, may our filial gratitude to Pope Benedict XVI be expressed not only with words and best wishes, but also with prayers and a renewed effort to fulfill God’s Will, to follow Christ, to support Pope Francis, and to love our Mother Church, especially during these difficult times.
