Our sincere prayers and gratitude for all that you have done and given to the Catholic Church!
May God bless you and reward you for your generous self-giving, humility and service to His Church!
PRAYER FOR POPE EMERITUS BENEDICT XVI
Almighty and Ever-living God, you have given us Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI to be the Vicar of Christ here on earth. He had given us during his time of service, in spite of his election to papacy at an advanced age, leaving us a great treasure of doctrine, and teaching us, among many things, that through hope in You, God, who are Love in its essence, we shall be saved.
Now that he has retired to a contemplative life, he never ceases to serve you by praying for your Church and offering his old age. We humble ask you to reward him for his generous and brilliant service with a happy life here on earth to be completed in your presence in heaven.
We ask this through Christ, your Son, in union with the Holy Spirit, who lives and reigns with you, God, forever and ever. Amen.
